Shantaram scrapped?

The latest buzz is that the much hyped international project ‘Shantaram‘which has been repeatedly put on hold a zillion times has finally been scrapped!

The film based on Gregory David Roberts‘ bestselling novel, ‘Shantaram‘ has had much hype and hoopla surrounding it. The star cast comprised of Hollywood hottie Johnny Depp and our very own Big Big is now only for the ‘namesake’.

Big B was to play the character of a Mafia Don Kader Bhai with Johnny Depp essaying the title role. Other bollywood actors like Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma were supposedly finalized for important roles.

The movie was to be shot on the streets of Colaba and many other landmark places in Mumbai. But since the production took too long and kept getting delayed, the film has stalled.

The shooting which was supposed to start in January this year got pushed to the summers. Triggered by the writers‘strike in the US.
