DOUBLE CROSS – sub-standard fare
Rating:- *
A film with the same title was made years ago, and was quite well made.
This one looks like a poor cousin of that film. Settled in Cape Town, Sonia (Ayesha Julka) inexplicably decides to marry an uneducated, uncouth young man Sahil [Sahil Khan] from Punjab. But before long, her intentions are clear. She wants to use her virile Punjabi husband as a male prostitute. What’s more,
She handles the hubby’s ever-increasing clientele herself.
During several confrontations, Sahil finds himself helpless. On one of his trips to London, Sahil comes across Negar [Negar Khan], a stripper. Both come closer closer as they realize how similar their lives are?
By the time Sonia decides to mend her ways, it’s a little too late. There is a showdown between Sonia and Sahil. And soon thereafter, Sonia is found raped and dead in her apartment.
Because of the showdown they had had, the needle of suspicion naturally points towards Sahil. But, interestingly, Negar admits to killing Sonia.
The script is loose and raises many questions. Director Sabir S. has not been able to handle the subject with finesse. Music [all remix numbers] is just about okay. 'Aao Huzoor Tumko' is an erotic number that has been filmed imaginatively.
Ayesha Julka performs sincerely. As for Sahil Khan, he needs to work on his expressions. Negar Khan displays more of her anatomy than talent.
All said and done, DOUBLE CROSS - EK DHOKA is sub-standard fare.
