Box Office Review

AHISTA AHISTA – MARKED BY A FEW SENSITIVE MOMENTS & GOOD PERFORMANCES, BUT VERY SLOW-PACED

Rating:- * *

Ankush [Abhay Deol] makes two ends meet by acting as a witness in marriage registrar's office in Delhi. Megha [Soha Ali Khan] who has come to the Registrar’s office to marry her love Dheeraj [Shayan Munshi] is in a fix because Dheeraj doesn't turn up. When she does not know what to do or where to go,Ankush helps her get a job at an old age home so that she has the security of a roof over her head. Slow but steadily, Megha realizes that there's more to life than her boyfriend. She’s drawn to Ankush. When she has almost decided to forget all about the past and settlle down with Ankush, Dheeraj returns.

Although AHISTA AHISTA is the debut-making vehicle of director Shivam Nair, it’s quite well handled. Shivam's storytelling is simple and strikes a fine balance between dramatic and light moments. A number of sequences, especially between Abhay and Soha, are sensitively treated.

But the film has its share of flaws, major one being its tardy pace. Turns, twists and climax are Illogical and show the heroine as an opportunist.

Himesh Reshammiya's music easy on the ears, Prakash Kutty’s cinematography is superb.

As for performances, Abhay Deol is a complete natural, and Soha catches your attention once again. Shayan Munshi is competent in a small role.

On the whole, the film has its share of sensitive moments but fails to make an impression in totality.
