Technical Analysis
‘All the Best’ establishes Rohit Shetty as Bollywood’s new laughterino. He tickled our funny bones with Golmaal then returned it again with ‘Golmaal Returns’ and now wishes Bollywood ‘All The Best’ this Diwali.
With a movie like ‘All the Best’ u can bring your wife, kids, neighbours, your lunch, your cell phone, your laptops, and your unfinished work still managing to laugh.
Shot in Goa & SouthAfrica this adaptation of the Midwest play of early 1900s, 'Right Bed Wrong Husband.' has had its share in Indian drama theatres but this screen adaptation by Rohit Shetty going by the helmers past records manages to draw more intersecting points than the Delhi flyovers where people are funny & enjoyably ridiculous.
But the most loving being the 50+ baba aka Sanjay Dutt who is the scene stealer.
Dhram Kapoor is a perfectly stitched role for Sanjay after the Munnabhai series.
Another point which is much mentioning is that Big B was first considered for the role but later Kajol zeroed in on Sanjay Dutt & Ajay agreed to allow Sanjay maximum footage in his own production.
Being a producer, Ajay could have allowed himself to share the maximum space but he understood the requirement of the script & asked Sanjay to do the needful which the actor obliged.
As the doctor orders in Bollywood madcapers, ‘All the best’ is fast and hilarious, hysterical and frantic. Some of the sequences, like the final leg of the car race, Johny Lever speaking finally during the climax, Ajay trying to peek into the bedroom of Bipasha & Sanjay interfering, & Sanjay Mishra’s take on Pran are hilarious. The dance circuses are stunning so are the action sequences by Jai Singh. Ajay Devgan comic timing is a real tickle.
The scenes between Sanjay & Ajay are the major highlights.
Bipasha is ravishing, Mugdha Godse chips in with valuable support, Ashwini Kalsekar is impressive as the south Indian catholic.
There's something for everyone in this genre which is ruled by comedy but has its sprinklings of drama, romance, and even a carnival. A ticking moment yields to a drama to a massive song-and-dance routine, followed by a brief action encounter.
Logic seekers will be the chest beaters as normally happens with such kind of mad capers which rely to a lot of extent on word of mouth. Some may find the entire proceeding forced but overall ‘All The Best’ scores 3 out of 5.
One for the maintaining the laughter quotient required for such flicks
One for the performance, especially Sanjay Dutt & Ajay Devgan
One for the technicalities & production values.
The movie loses points on telling an original story & still Fardeen struggles to act.
The Story
Veer (Fardeen Khan) a singer by profession, is greedy of extracting extra pocket money from his brother Dharam (Sanjay Dutt) a business-honcho. Veer lies to Dharam that he has got married and his friend Prem (Ajay Devgn), a concept car expert, lends a helping hand in cooking up this alibi.
Veer is in love with Vidya (Mugdha Godse) but has qualified in the hate list of her father. Prem is happily married to Jhanvi (Bipasha Basu) who takes care of his ancestor's outdated gymnasium. Veer and Prem land up in debts as they had opted for a short-cut to earn easy money.
The two get into a bigger soup when Dharam pays a sudden visit to their place. Time does not give a chance and unavoidable circumstances arouse such situations that Prem's wife Jhanvi is mistaken for Veer's and Veer's girlfriend for Prem's.
Promotion
Rightly promoted in the way it should be, the indoor/outdoor publicity should do the click trick.
Business Analysis
‘All The Best’ is fast & hilarious will cash on the bollywood biggest season this Diwali.
