What is it?
Daphne du Maurier & Alfred Hitchcock the two great genius writers and directors respectively must be scratching their hairs and banging their heads in shock, dismay & aghast. Even after decades, bollywood’s desperate demands of an original scriptwriter increases film after films.
Let me tell you, Actually Anant Mahadevan’s ‘Anamika- the untold story’ (no oops for doing this again) was told by the master storyteller Alfred Hitchcock in ‘Rebecca’ way back in 1940. The superbly chilling and enthralling tale of doubt, trepidation and love was based on Daphne du Maurier masterpiece of the same name which starred the legendary Sir Laurence Olivier & the divine beauty Joan Fontaine in lead roles.
Along with Judith Anderson who played Mrs. Danvers, one of literature's most infamous female villains.
‘Rebecca’ – the original film walked with two Oscars and this desi adaptation I am afraid will walk down in the annals of boredom marked with the biggest casting blunder of all times.
To be fair with Anant Mahadevan, he is not to be blamed for the pity situation and trend that prevails in bollywood, yehan to ‘Aksar’ aisa hota hai.
‘Yeh dil Mange More’ enough of this bore’s with yore’s etc.
The movie is unique in its sense that it has nothing to offer.
The maker leaves no stone unturned to make an irritating yawnertainer and a mockery of the original masterpiece that even makes RGV’s Aag a commendable effort.
My god its not even monsoon and there are already tough contenders for this year’s ‘Na Real’ awards & that too within a month Gr8 going guys.
A suggestion, pls make a procedure from now on that this turkeys should also carry a warning like those in cigarettes and alcohol.
It’s also a health issue isn’t it? Mr. Ramdoss are you listening.
What is it all about?
Let this story be untold to cost any further embarrassment to all.
What should be done?
Buy the original (of course, we are against piracy of any kind) dvd’s of ‘Rebecca’ and enjoy the great psychological drama and mystery.
