ANTHONY KAUN HAI - A THRILLER, WITH PLENTY OF GOOD MOMENTS, BUT THE SCREENPLAY IS INCOHESIVE

Rating:- * *

Just because the starcast includes Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, a whole lot of cinegoers would rush to theatres hoping that there would be fun like “Munnabhai MBBS”, but they are going to be disillusioned. Particularly the fans of Sanjay Dutt who are not going to see much of him. The film revolves around Arshad Warsi, money transactions, diamonds, a detective and a hitman. Sanju plays the hitman. His role is tangential.

The film is not the usual thriller that cinegoers, the masses, are used to seeing.

Himesh Reshammiya's music is pretty good. And the cinematographer by Hemant Chaturvedi is eye-catching. Beautiful locales of have been well exploited.

As for performances, since the focus is on Arshad Warsi he does an admirable job from start to end. Sanju looks ferocious, handsome and dapper as the occasion demands and does a damn good job.

Minissha is likeable. Raghuveer Yadav is passable. Gulshan Grover is bankable. Ravi Baswani provides comic relief. Chetan Hansraj is hardly there.

On the whole, the film provides good moments although the screenplay leaves much to be desired. It could have been much better. The film has good initial-value and coupled with the star power and hype should sail safe for its distributors.
