Box Office Review

BHOOT UNKLE

Rating:- *

How long are we going to underestimate the intellectual levels of our kids. After what Harry Potter has served them, our kids have outgrown the sloppy, slow comedy long back.

Music composer Vishal Bharadwaj made a striking directorial debut with MAKDEE, BHOOT UNKLE has a somewhat similar plot of a haunted lighthouse and a kid exploring the place. The only difference is, Shabana was a crooked witch in MAKDEE, while Jackie is the friendly ghost in BHOOT UNKLE.

The story is about a kid, Shyam, who accidentally solves the mystery of a missing Shiva Idol, with the help of Bhoot Unkle [Jackie Shroff] who had once stolen it as a pirate now dead & trapped in a light house as a ghost.

The film does not appeal one bit, firstly due to the shoddy and tacky special effects and secondly the clichéd masala flick that we have witnessed a million times before.

If the idea is to woo the kids, sorry, the execution of the subject as well as the timing of its release have ruined whatever chances it may have had!

Nothing is worth a mention whether Direction, Screenplay, visual effects or even the cinematography. Chances of its survival on the box-office look very bleak.
