What is it?
Faint hearts, culture walas, morality holders, please excuse. ‘BUDDHA MAR GAYA’ may disturb & shock you as well. This may take your breath away & you may die by the overdose of obscenity without making Rakhi Sawant do any struggling for you.
But welcome black humor, satire, sarcasm, adult jokes, and weird take offs.
Being promoted as a black comedy, ‘BUDDHA MAR GAYA’ does scores to a lot of extent. And shockingly makes you laugh at places. Better handling of sarcasm, satire, and control on obscenity (like the Rakhi Sawant’s episode) could have done wonders like in the case of ‘EK Challis Ki Last Local’.
But the writers Raju Saigal (Story ) & Anand Sivakumaran (Screenplay Dialouges) though successfully narrate their point of view with satires and sarcasm to an extant, they eventually spoil their fine effort with obscenity (the Rakhi Sawant’s episode) is aimed to attract masses but it turns out to be obscene could have been done in a better way.
Rahul Rawail has previously tried his hand with comedy in ‘Biwi-O-Biwi’ (1981) this one had one of the greatest performances by the then epitome of acting ‘Sanjeev Kumar’. Then came the trendsetter ‘Arjun’ (1985) which had Sunny Deol in one of his most memorable performance ever.
Now in ‘BUDDHA MAR GAYA’ the 20 film old director opens all barriers and crosses limits by limits which where never ever tried or done by any established bollywood director to my knowledge.
Rahul Rawail’s new endeavor deals with every thing available on this planet, from extra-marital affair to gay relationships to an insight on corpse selling.
What is unique and remarkable in this cheeky chutzpah is that it does portray the sad reality ‘ baap bada na maiya , sabse bada rupaiya’ to a lot of extent and that is the ‘whole thing’.Whats it all about?
LK (Anupam Kher) is a top industrialist – a self made man. His company is about to launch an IPO worth 5000 crore. On the night of the pre launch party the old Billie dies in his bedroom while copulating with a struggling starlet (Rakhi Sawant in full form).
The entire family is shocked and worried as all of their personal plans will go astray if this news breaks in public. So on the advice of Vidyut Baba (Om Puri ) they hide the death of LK from the public and media for a couple of days to wait for their shares to be sold out.
But fate displays a wicked sense of humor, what follows is a ride through the business of dead bodies, funerals, greed, corruption, femme fatale …and what not.
What to look out for?
Black humor handled remarkably to a certain extant.
The changing trends of Indian cinema.
Satire, sarcasm, adult jokes, gay jokes, take offs, everything mirrors the sad reality.
Fine performances by Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Mukesh Rishi.
Rakhi Sawant is in full form. What Not?
Obscenity could have been controlled or avoided (Rakhi Sawant episode).
A better and tighter screenplay could have created wonders.
The Murli Sharma track is poorly narrated.
Recommended: For open minded and liberal thinkers only who understand black humor, enjoy sarcasms and take offs!
