CHAL CHALEIN
Scores marvelously on the idea front but unfortunately wastes a great opportunity due to juvenile execution

Technical Analysis
If wishes were roses, all horses would be men. Well, personally, I was sad for the helmer & the producers of this film & glad for myself. Sad, for being deprived from such a promising opportunity to experience an ambitious, keenly observed and poignant look at one of life's most daunting passages called Parenthood. Chal Chalein is a masterstroke gone awkwardly haywire. A brilliant idea gone kaput. On the other hand was glad to realize that my parents didn,t forced me to do anything in my life.
Talking of the film, the production house had a master time bomb in their hands, a movie that could have covered every range the family experience, offering the points of view of everyone in an extended and wildly diverse middle-class family or upper-class family were parents in order to be in the race dump their aspirations on the poor kids without knowing their likes or dislikes.
The kids on the other hand are equally conscientious but still find themselves on the receiving end cause they are asked to do something they are not capable of.
Helmer Ujjwal Singh had a brilliant idea in the story of Vijaya Ramchandrula but in order to do too many things in one film, the director wasted a golden opportunity to churn a sensitive film. Instead of concentrating on one family & one story, Ujjwal tries to take it as a movement & spoils every opportunity.
Inexperience clearly shows as he fails to stole the audience heart which such a sensitive subject which given to a competent maker would have created another remarkable bollywood cinema.
What could have been a movie about parents & children & there growing up, becomes a national movement by teenagers to teach the parents for their wrong without striking any emotional chord.
It is the acting, though, that throws some shine to the movie. Mithun Da is competent as ever. Mukesh Khanna, Anoop Soni & Shilpa Shukla provide able support.
All the kids are adorable with Tanvi Hegde as Vaishnavi taking the lead with equal support from Priyesh Sagar, Saket Sharma, Pratham Sadh, Dhairya Oza, Karan Arora & Chirag Ruia.
Musically a disappointment after finding names of Illaiyaraja. Technically fair with decent production values.
The second half has some intriguing moments in court and it starts getting momentum but by the time its too late for the common audience.
The movie gets 2 out of 5.
One for the idea
& one for the performances
The movie losses strongly on execution
The Story
This is the story about the children who are facing the parental pressure regarding education. Different Parents are putting the pressure on their children various regions. May be they see their dreams to be fulfilled by their children, may be social comparisons, may be in the job market particular courses get proper job. If the child handled the pressure they carry on this. Other wise the solution became suicide.
The Group of eight boys & girls. Group name is “Dashing Lads”.
They are eleventh standard students. Playful, witty, yet rational. One of their friends Navneet (Priyesh Sagar) committed suicide because of his father pressure about studies (Kanwaljit).Navneet is interested in literature but his
Father wants to see him as an engineer.
All the friends are worried about the children who are committing suicide. They decided to do something to stop these type of suicides. They filed the cases and start the movement against parents & Indian government.
Lawyer Sanjay (Mithun Chakrawarty) helps these kids in their movement. Which became one of the greatest revolution in history of India . Parents got angry. Anup Soni (lawyer) represent the parents at court. Government selected Nandita Prakash (Shilpa Shukla) as their lawyer. The whole nation supports the children.
Promotion
Reasonably promoted, a movie like this requires special attention of school, colleges & NGO’s.
Business Analysis
Special screenings for the concerned NGO’s may benefit this film which at least has a powerful message though very shabbily delivered. Otherwise, it is most likely to go unnoticed.
