DARLING
‘GHOST’ LAUGHTER!!

What is it?
I would like to thank Ram Gopal Varmaji for improving my sense of humour.‘Darling’ is being promoted as a thriller/horror flick. But ‘merrily’ this adventure by RGV doesn’t fall in any genre. Sarcastically speaking this missadventure falls in humour!!

The ‘Ghost’ paradoxically evokes laughter and is miles and miles apart in providing any spine-chilling moments. Much to the ‘horror’ of the audience. Last week ‘Sholay’ to nahi badke, aag lagne se pehle hi bhuj gayi and now poor ‘Darling’ will beg for arms.

RGV ye tune Kya Kiya, hum to gaye the ‘Darne’ aap ne to ‘Hassa’ diya.

Whats it all about?
Married Aditya Soman (Fardeen Khan- hurray mein acting kar sakta ho!) embarks on a passionate affair with his colleague Geeta Menon(Esha Deol – ghostly mischievous in white ), it is just an interlude for him. But for her, it is much more than that. She truly believes that Aditya will divorce his wife Ashwini (Isha Koppikar in a forgettable role) and marry her.

Aditya, too, strings her around, as long as it suits him. The couple’s eagerness to get cozy    is remarkable they mingle at the slightest given opportunity be it rain, office, disco wherever – whatever. Any way, suddenly things take a deadly turn. Gita gets pregnant, but Aditya refuses to ditch his wife. In a scuffle that ensues, Gita dies accidentally. But she returns as a ghost to haunt Aditya and tickle your funny skeletons.

What to look out for?
Fardeen Khan though carries the same gasping and nervous look all the way does a fine job. Esha Deol makes all kinds of faces in the ‘thrill’ to evoke ‘horror’, she is much more competent when she is alive in the flick.

One anonymous lady police officer, her silence is as amusing as the ‘mischeivous’ ghost. Zakir Hussain is also amusing. Kamal hai ek thriller mein three comedian.

What Not?
RGV’s style, trade mark, flair, expertise in such genre of films is found nowhere. There is no thrill, scare. ‘Darling’ makes you laugh and eventually feel sad and sorry for the filmmaker of such a high repertoire. Kaha hai who Ramu? Sir we all want you to make films like ‘Bhoot’ ‘Kaun’ ‘Satya’ ‘Shiva’ ‘Rangeela’ ‘Sarkar’ and so on. So please stop experimenting from now on. Otherwise cinegoers will not ‘Go’ to watch your flick.

Conclusion: ‘Go’ if you want to laugh your chill out ‘darling’.
