Technical Analysis
The Gr8 Bollywood laugh masters David Dhawan, Govinda & Vashu Bhagnani unite & make you feel that their mastery over laugh mechanism isn,t tickling enough, the comic craftsman David along with his favorite lucky mascot Govinda seem out of form in their favourite position as entertainers No.1 & ‘disturb’ the audience with their latest offering which by all means & resources available at their disposal, could have been another big screen laughing timepiece with satisfying quotient of laughs.
But alas, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ is the wining combo’s weakest work.
But a king is a king, even though it’s not a wholly satisfying effort by David & Govinda, it still manages to tickle your funny bones here & there. Like Sachin not scoring a hundred & instrumental in shaping India’s win but still showing flashes of his flamboyance & range.
‘Do Knot Disturb’ is not up to the commercial standards (we don,t talk about art in a David Dhawan flick) of the entertaining combo but still has its moments of giggle.
Inspired from the comic French helmer Francis Veber "The Valet.”.
Where a billionaire industrialist played by Govinda asks his mistress (Lara Dutta) to pose as the sweetheart of a waiter (Ritesh) so that he can convince his wife (Sushmita Sen – pls anyone show her way to the nearest gym), who actually controls his holdings -- that he's faithful. But the wife wants to catch the businessman and torment him.
This subdued effort can survive by a decent Holiday weekend pull Courtesy: David & Govinda but the overall prospects are not promising enough.
Govinda displays his range & versatility but gives the feeling that he is eager to control the show & in the bargain shockingly overdoes & irritates at some point.
Lara Dutta fails to evoke any oomph so naturally she is unable to seduce anyone.
David looses control here cause his writer Yunus Sejawal doesn,t gives him any opportunity, forcing the helmer to rely entirely on the gimmicks of his favorite actor/star who can innovate/refresh the act only when its convincingly written.
Gimmicks work only if there’s a proper demand of situations otherwise it becomes an irritating display of nonsense in order to create laughter. ‘Do Knot Disturb’ makes you undergo this frustration.
Lensing by Vijay Arora is efficient, editing doesn't betray cause there where no scenes but shots in display. Musically Blah. Nvertheless Production values are first rate.
‘Do Knot Disturb’ proves that even a master can fumble. Shockingly Govinda overdoes & its high time he learns from his counterparts who have also crossed 50 & choose roles accordingly. Ritesh does what he is capable of to perfection. Rajpal enjoys to be clowned again & again. Ranbir Shorey is strictly okay. Lara is oomph less & Sushmita looks large & bolted.
Phew, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ comes with a huge baggage of disappointment.
The movie scores 1 out of 5.
For the one funny conference room scene, which can make anybody laugh.
Otherwise the movie loses on major departments like writing, acting, narrating, and music.
The Story
A filthy rich businessman (Govinda) married to a beautiful and sophisticated woman (Sushmita Sen), tries to hide his extra-marital affair with a supermodel (Lara Dutta). To save his skin, he bribes a waiter (Ritesh Deshmukh) into pretending to be the supermodel's boyfriend. What follows is a series of mistaken identities and misunderstandings.
Promotion
Aggressively promoted everywhere which will help in the flick generating some initials.
Business Analysis
The weakest in the entertaining combo of David, Vashu & Govinda, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ can still hope for a decent weekend initials thanks to its aggressive promotion & the curiosity surrounding a David Dhawan & Govinda flick. From Monday it will see a steep fall, the DVD & non theatrical sales will be influential in recovering the cost.
