Technical Analysis
‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ is a yawning marriage that can be also watched fast forward without feeling guilty of losing anything special.
The very warm gesture by the King Khan makes his appearance very special in this rom com that is loosely inspired from Manik Chatterjee’s ‘Bahurani’ starring Rekha.
In fact film based on this scheme of a simpleton undergoing a makeover to win the heart of the beloved has been done repeatedly in many ways.
Dulha Mil Gaya is a major release after the unstoppable ‘3 Idiots’ which greets the new year with an explosion of empty values and tedious peevishness that blows a marriage and blasts a decade.
First time helmer Mudassar Aziz shows technical finesse in shot taking but is marred by his own script which though cliché could have worked and become a blushing comedic romancer but ends up as yawner where you search for moments and feel of romance.
Even the lovingly towering presence of Bollywoods most romantic hero SRK and the spontaneity of the ravishing Sushmita ( She fantastically underlines the difference between a girl and a women) can,t save this flick from boredom.
New comers Mohir Chadda and Ishita Sharma show promise while Fardeen still needs an acting counselor.
Johny Lever is damn serious adding more irritation and disappointment.
Howard Rosemeyer as the gay assistant overacts and Parikshat Sahni does the fatherhood act to perfection.
Tara Sharma is wasted.
Lacking any memorable or say enduring moments, the movie is just like walking endlessly on the thread mill at the speed of one wasting time and energy.
Anyways Sush and SRK try very hard to hold the interest but in vain
Cause the main protagonist Fardeen as Tej Dhanraj urf Donsai is miscast.
What makes Fardeen fall for the now hep Ishita Sharma is not explained.
Who is SRK not told?.
Many things are unexplained in this well shot film where the camera of Sunil Patel beautifully captures the exotic locales of West Indies.
Editing by Sanjay Ingle is sharp and the production values are first rate.
Music by Lalit Pandit and Pritam Chakraborty has nothing to hum about
If good gestures where the scale to rate a movie then ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ deserves 10 on 10 for the king size friendly gesture by SRK to act in this film which is produced by Viveck who was SRK’s support during his initial days.
But points are given on the making, writing and performance and on the basis of that ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ gets 2 out of 5
One for the towering presence of SRK and fine performance by Sushmita
The second for the promise shown by the newcomers Mohir Chadda and Ishita Sharma.
The Story
Dulha Mil Gaya is a tedious tale of individuals each of whom have strange takes on relationships in their lives.
Dulha Mil Gaya Donasi ( Fardeen) , a young commitment phobic debonair, is petrified with the idea of terms like 'marriage' and 'long term relationships'.
Samarpreet (Ishita Sharma), a quintessential Punjabi girl, for whom relationships are to be cherished and lived by.
Shimmer (Sushmita), a diva from the world of glamour, for whom love and relationships aren't quite half as important in life as independence and 'success' are.
And lastly, Pawan Raj Gandhi, PRG ( SRK), for short, a suave multi-millionaire whose heart still remains larger than his bank balance and for whom winning love is the only victory there is.
Promotion
Finely promoted the movie has been able to catch the eye in its indoor and outdoor promotions. Media buzz by Universal Communications has been reasonable.
Some inputs by SRK would have generated more buzz but could have also increased the expectations.
Music is a disappointment and hence can hardly contribute
Business Analysis
A Rom Com with a special appearance by the superstar SRK still can,t save this predictable, unconvincing and boring love story that fails to add any glory at the B.O.
