Box Office Review

HEYY BABYY
PART AND PARCEL’S OF FATHERHOOD
By Vishal Verma

Rating:- * *1/2

What is it?
Boy! 14 Bollywood bimbos in one song!!

Those who missed the flight say ‘Hey what’s wrong’!!

15, 20, 25, … (Stopped counting after that)slaps for finding one mom!

Another Hollywood inspiration somewhere gone wrong!!

This is what Sajid Khan directorial debut ‘Heyy Babyy (their spelling not mine) has to offer. This time dear Sajid has to taste his own medicine. When you pass comments on other’s works then your work is bound to be inspected by the magnifying glasses left by Sherlock Holmes. Elementary!! Hai Na!

The movie is inspired from Leonard Nimoy’s ASCAP winner ‘3 Men and a Baby’. (Now I have stopped complaining). Sajid Khan tries to add desi masala to this American Chopsey and succeeds to some extant.

The movie makes you laugh and also succeeds in moistening your eyes but that is only in the first half. The second half drags and fails to hold the viewers interest as you know what will be the outcome. A better & tighter effort with some editing could have given a much better result.  Nevertheless, Sajid Khan and writer Milap Zaveri deserve a pat on their back for the hilarious first 20 – 25 minutes, which can tickle anyone’s funny bones.

The witty dialogues will go well with the masses.

The combo of Sajid Nadiadwala and Akshay Kumar may not work as well as it did in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ but it definitely has its moments.

Consistent Akshay Kumar once again delivers and this time he innovates and goes much further.

Whats it all about?
Three Casanovas (Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan) whose joyous life comes to a stand-still when a baby arrives at their door step and one of them is it’s father .The three guys have to now search from among the various girls with whom they have slept to discover who it’s mother would be.

And unknowingly enter into a competition – who gets the maximum slaps from their ex-girlfriends?

The number of girls dated by each of them in a year exceeds the figure which any moviestar +rockstar + a supermodel should have achieved together. Mama dear (Vidya Balan) arrives and leaves our kuwara baaps to cry. What forms the rest of the story is how Akshay wins the heart of the lady of his life and his child.

What to look out for?
First 20-25 minutes are hilarious. Milap Zaveri’s dialogues have some fine punches. Superb performance by Akshay Kumar his take off on Jeevan and Amin Sayani is brilliant (I guess this must be Sajid’s idea but it doesn’t matter if I am right or wrong. Brilliantly done.

Rithesh Deshmukh as the marathi manus. He does full justice to his role.

Vidya Balan’s yet another stimulating performance after Parineeta.
14 bollywood damsel in the title song and even after that options like ‘Bhipasha Basu and co. where still available. If you go by this, Bollywood is certainly growing.

Title track by the trio ‘Shankar Eshaan Loy’ which has already become a rage.

What Not?
‘Bollywood Teri Wohi Kahani, Unki Soch Apni Jubani’. Trimming was necessary during the second half.
Fardeen Khan again disappoints. Nothing special about SRK’s special appereance.
Mr. Khan why and what where you doing?

Recommended: only for Akshay and the fun moments!!
