Technical Analysis

Some stories are not just a manipulative venture that makes you cry. Sometimes, it's a tale well told that brings out honest emotions. ‘Jashnn’ follows the tradition of the Bhatt camp where stories are told with emotions straight from your heart whoever you may be.

There's crying and audiences respond in kind. Undeniably effective, this brother sister bonding poses a fascinating moral quandary – conditional & unconditional love, pain, remorse, frustrations in extra martial affairs, dilemma, dreams, needs & desires as the Bhatt’s have delivered in their previous flicks. Helmers Raksha Mistry & Hasnain S Hyderabadwala after taking a pause with thrillers, bend it with pen of Shagufta Rafique to retain the touch of the Bhatt’s & narrate the story from a common viewers points of view which creates its impact.

It has its flaws like the romance between Adhyayan Suman & Anjana Sukhani could have been impulsive as the way the relationship between the siblings Adhyayan & Shahana is shown. Nevertheless, the dilemma & the tussle of class between Adhyayan & Humayun is the crux of the whole emotional drama.
Almost every scene between the two is the highlight of this flick.

Acting wise A+ in every sense where Adhyayan Suman is a find, well groomed for this role, the actor may not sway many crazy balas but certainly proves a point that he is not just another dream of an ambitious & affluent parents.

Humayun Saeed as Aman Bajaj deserves special mention; he is powerful & yet capable of a softer touch (watch the climax) that makes Adhyayan pain & struggle believable.‘Jashnn’ would not have been worthy without the mention of the ladies in the film.

Shahana Goswami is brilliant (watch the volatile scenes between Adhyayan & Humayun). Anjana Sukhani doesn,t waste the opportunity & delivers a striking performance. In spite of all this wonderful plus, ‘Jashnn’ still calls for an argument. In the face of such an impeccably mounted emotional onslaught, why the music by Toshi Sabri & Sharib Sabri, is so mediocre. Only the ‘nazare kahan soti hai’ is able to make some impact.

Some lovers of melodrama will find the climax to be easy & dry. All said and done, ‘Jashnn’ scores 3 out of five. One for the compelling execution & narration that retains the emotions the way it was done by the by the Bhatt’s in past. One for the excellent overall performance by the entire cast. And the last for the polished technicalities, the lensing & the editing that suits the story's bittersweet feel.

The Story

Akash Verma (Adhyayan Suman) a twenty year old Indian lad, thirsts to become a singing icon that can blaze a trial for himself among the galaxy of existing stars. But though he has dreams in his heart, he has been unable to find that distinctive voice that he can call his own, that will propel him to the top. Only when he's shattered by life and unflinchingly looks at the sordid truth straight in the face - that he is freeloading off his elder sister Nisha (Shahana Goswami), who, in order to offer him a decent life style, has become the mistress of a rich businessman, Aman Bajaj (Humayun Saeed) is he is able to touch his inner core.

Call it irony or a twist of fate, but the person who sees him through this dark night and mentors him when he's down and out is none other than the sister of the person who he hates most in the world...Aman Bajaj. It is Sara (Anjana Sukhani), Aman's sister, who makes him realize that he is an extremely talented man who is simply going through a bad phase and that the biggest crime a human being can commit, is to give up on himself.

Spurred by life's bittersweet lessons, and Sara's genuine love and support, Akash, in the harshest winter of his life discovers an invincible summer within himself...thereby discovering his own voice. With this very special tune which has been soaked with the passion of his lived life, he not only touches his inexhaustible potential and becomes an overnight star but also brings dignity it his beleaguered sister, humbles his biggest detractor Aman Bajaj and in the process, lives up to the faith that Sara had in him all along.

Promotion

Decently promoted in outdoor & indoors, the movie losses on music & hence the impact of flicks which are musically based is missing & will fail to generate any considerable hype with its music. A rare phenomenon for a Vishesh Films release.

Business Analysis
Emotionally strong but musically weak with not very popular actors, ‘Jashnn’ success party entirely depends on the word of mouth by those who have attended. Nevertheless, ‘Jashnn’ works for Adhyayan Suman & his dreams. It establishes him as a decent actor. Anyhow, this emotional onslaught by the Bhatt’s in their trademark manner should attract more legs from time to time.
