Technical Analysis
YRF enters 2010 with this charming beauty and the geek thingie, freshly retold. Though last year the Bollywood movie czar didn,t excited much but ended on a intellectual note with ‘Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year’, this year it marks it entry with this charming fresh rom com directed by Jugal Hansraj who did a decent job with ‘Roadside Romeo’ and with ‘Pyaar Impossible’ he repeats that he can narrate a story for some audience at least, maybe later for all.
This take on the theme of a geek falling for a hottie introduces Uday as a producer and writer which reestablished the studio as a premium story teller who is in sync with times.
Though the infatuation turning into an obsession and continuing after seven years could have been in more detail and the inner beauty philosophy could have been explained with more sequences and better examples to make audience proud of Uday but the writer and the director are more concentrating on making Priyanka looking more hot and the geek ness of Uday been taken for granted.
Instead more incidents of Uday’s campus obsessions could have added considering that audience will accept Priyanka as hot and happening as she plays herself.
Overall is charming as the relationship between Uday and Priyanka’s kid in the film makes for the Dino Morea’s not quite convincing part in the movie in which he performs badly as usual.
‘Pyaar Impossible’ is elegantly shot and Santosh Thundiyil camera beautifully captures the campus in California and the surroundings in Singapore. This top notch production values is all glossy as an YRF picture should be where Uday as the ‘daboo’ college student and a geek ‘froggie’ after seven years gives his best and is quite natural. Priyanka as Alisha is the delicious hottie anyone can jump for. The girl is strikingly hot and gives a fabulous performance. Anupam Kher is competent. The kid is a little bundle of talent.
Musically Salim Merchant and Suleman Merchant give two humming numbers the title song and 10 on 10.
The movie has some moments though they are not much but still make an impact.
Like the one where Priyanka in a geek get up tries to gain attention of everybody around.
Such moment make this simple geek falling over a hottie story gain some glory
The movie scores 3 out of 5
One for the freshness to an ages old theme
One for the performance
One for the technicalities and the music which looks good when one is watching the film.
The Story
In Ankert University, California, Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) is the name of that every boy dreams. It is no surprise then that Abhay (Uday Chopra) loves her too. More than his computer programs and MAC stores he thinks of Alisha. Abhay is a nerdy, awkward, socially challenged, bespectacled geek of the college who is so far removed from her world that she doesn't even know that people like him actually exist.
Abhay has quietly loved Alisha all his life. One day he musters up enough courage to go and express his true feelings to her and realizes that it is never gonna happen. Later, their paths cross again, as Abhay is busy trying to launch his career. Fate again brings him face to face with the woman of his dreams, Alisha.
Promotion
Promotion has been fair but for a theme like this some innovations was always required.
Business Analysis
‘Pyaar Impossible’ has its share of charming moments but not in totality, the lack of face value will be another hindrance but a positive word of mouth will ensure some returns in the metro circuit.
