PYARE MOHAN – DISAPPOINTING

Rating:- *

Indra Kumar may have some good films, but his latest flick is not in their league.

For any comedy to work, it ought to be embellished with great scenes, loads of wit and humor and also actors who have a flair for comedy. On the surface, PYARE MOHAN has these things, but the end product is far from satisfying.

Although inspired by the Hollywood film See NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL absence of meat in the screenplay prepared by Milap Zaveri and Tushar Hiranandani detracts from the quality of the film.

Pyare [Fardeen Khan] is blind, while Mohan [Vivek Oberoi] is deaf. An inseparable duo, who were stuntmen in a film company initially, but after having met with an accident on the sets of a film, Pyare loses his vision, while Mohan goes deaf. They now run a gift shop. The sole factor missing in their life is romance; both yearn for a girl-friend. One fine morning when they run into two sisters, Preeti (Esha Deol) and Priya (Amrita Rao), they feel that now their would be love quotient too in their lives, but the sisters, who are on their way to Bangkok for a concert, make it clear to them that they consider them just as friends and nothing more.

There’s a twist in the story when one of the passengers Tony (Boman Irani) murders a co-passenger, a preist at Bangkok airport itself, but lo, the blame falls on Preeti and Priya. They are charged with murder and imprisoned in a Bangkok prison.

When Pyare and Mohan learn of Preeti and Priya's imprisonment, they go to Bangkok to help the ladies in distress. Tony is also keen to eliminate Preeti and Priya to wipe off all clues and witnesses about the murder he has committed. In the end, Preeti and Priya run into Pyare and Mohan's arms.

The post-interval portion is slightly better, thanks to a vital chase sequence which is the highlight of the film.

The film lacks the trademark drama of Indra Kumar films. Why, even music director Anu Malik's music is repetitive. Except 'I Love You My Angel', there's hardly any song you can hum on your way home.

As for performances, the only actor who stands out is Fardeen Khan. Vivek Oberoi does not impress.Esha and Amrita don’t have much to do. On the whole, the film leaves much to be desired.
