SLB – Sugar less romance of bridgewasis.

Welcome to the tinsel town Ranbi Boy, Butt (Stop that). Bollywood’s dare bare can now laugh their chest out cause for the first time in the history of bollywood Men are in question for their exposure! Any way lets come to the point, the much hyped launch of the kapoor bachcha’s is a damp squib.

Sanjay Leela Bansali’s ‘Sawariya’, the adaptation of short story 'White Nights' written by Fyodor Dostoevsky turns out to be a meaningless poetry though it has some fabulous words.

It tells the story of a couple's chance encounter and the advance of their parallel obsessions over four successive nights. An impromptu romance initiated in a remote town in the serene beauty of its lakes, mist, heavenly snowfull, rains and the tall swaying pine trees. Rani loves Ranbir, he loves Sonam, and she loves Salman in this town. This makes you groan.

‘Toh Pyaar Nahin Hua’. The enormous talent shown by Sanjay in ‘Khamoshi’ & ‘Black’ as a sensible film maker & in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam & ‘Devdas’ as a filmmaker with panache, fails miserably in ‘Saawariya’ as far as substance is concerned.

If ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ won the hearts, ‘Devdas’ turned out to be winner in the end, ‘Black’ showed the light and of course ‘Khamoshi’ triggered the debate, his latest offering will not find its place in any genre. What a pity?

Saawariya will keep waiting for his beloved at the picturised lake with her arm spread but will never find her beloved till the end of this century.

This love story doesn’t move at all. What could have been a beautiful musical akin to those in west but ironically it turns out to be art directors Omung Kumar & Vanita Omung Kumar’s exhibition.

Though the film has breathtaking visuals by Ravi Chandran, Sanjay doesn’t narrate the story. He seems to have lost in the visuals and has never come out of the daze. What a waste!

Even the spectacular sets turn out to be monotonously boring as we see them again and again cause there is no story to go with it.

The movie gets two stars 1 for its breathtaking visuals and the other is shared between Rani for her lively performance, Ranbir for a promising debut – he has the charm of the boy next door and appears to be good dancer. Whereas Sonam needs some grooming.

My goodness there are so may questions that come out after watching this film

What does Salman do, where did he go, where are the romantic moments between the two apart from the solitary one, on what basis their love gets going, Rani loves Ranbir and when he comes to her, she throws him out, tell me the date, month and year of this story, Salman looks like an uncle of dozen nephews, what is the set up and background of this fairy tale? Where is Begum Para? Excuse me I think like the length of this film, the list is getting too long to handle and we are loosing our nerves. So cut this.

Bansali ji break your ‘Khamoshi’ come out from the ‘Black’ daze of ‘Cinematic visuals your are in like a drunk ‘Devdas’ who will never get his “Paroo”. Meri baat mano, in cinematic visuals fisuals ko goli maroo taki ‘Hum Phir Se Dil De Sake’.

I remember one statement made by the late genius of Hindustan Mr. Satyajit Ray, he said ‘it’s easy to make an art film, it’s also easy to make a commercial film, but it is very difficult to make a sensible film’. Dear SLB are u listening or reading this.
