SHAADI SE PEHLE – FAILS TO FULFIL GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Rating:- * *

Ashish [Akshaye Khanna] and Rani [Ayesha Takia] are in love . But Ashish has a problem: When he is somewhat tense, he needs to swallow a pill to soothe his nerves. Rani's family is strictly against the relationship. What’s more, Ashish’s  childhood friend, Rohit [Aftab Shivdasani], is also in love with Rani.

A doctor diagnosis that Ashish has hypertension, but the latter mistakes it for cancer. Naturally his  world turns upside down. Imagining that he is now going to die, Ashish  decides to make Rani hate him. With that aim in view, he with the help of his friend [Rajpal Yadav], Ashish  starts flirting with a sexy model Sania [Mallika Sherawat]. Naturally, Rani is hurt and dejected.  She gets  engaged to Rohit. At this point, Ashish comes to know that he is not suffering from cancer. So, he wants to break the engagement of Rohit and Rani.

But the question is will Rani believe him now? What makes things more complicated is that Sania’s elder brother, tough guy Anna (Sunil Shetty), wants  his sister and Rohit to get married
fast.

With an interesting concept on hand, the film could have been a laughathon, but it only manages to amuse at places, thanks to a weak script.

As for performances,  Mallika Sherawat, Akshaye  Khanna and Rajpal Yadav have have done extremely well, particularly Mallika Sherawat, thanks to her bombshell image and happy go lucky attitude. Reduced in length and made more precise, the film could have left a better impact.

Director Satish Kaushik has not exactly delivered what was expected of him. Sanjay Chhel’s   dialogues by him are excellent, and two or three numbers composed by Himesh Reshamiya such as ‘Ankhiyon Se Gal Kar Gayee', 'Bijuria' and 'Tere Liye' are the highlights. Locales of Malaysia have been well picturised by cinematographer Johny Lall.
