Technical Analysis

‘Shadow’ is an action film with an amusing gimmick, not in the reel but real. The protagonist shown with normal eyesight is blind. The invincible part of the movie is not in the movie but behind. Naseer Khan – the man confidence & more important the passion will now make him see his dream through others eyes. He rides a horse, bikes, jet ski, even romances, does an item number. Well that’s deserves a clap, but audience want to see how convincing & interesting is this flashy thriller that has the required e quotient for the bollywood regulars.

Rohit Nayyar first outing as a helmer is a story of a glossy personal glory to the hearty producer without a compelling story for the viewers. Disco-style musical numbers are staged OK by Baba Yadav & Ganesh Acharya whereas the action by Mehmood Akbar Bakshi & Baan Rig is of high standards. Production values are first rate but the plot has more holes than a shower nozzle, marred by believability that is very less.

Acting wise, nobody expects Naseer to be SRK or Naseeruddin Shah to that matter, he is strictly okay. Milind, Sonali & Sachin are impressive. Sequences from Hitchcock movies like the murder in an amusement park is interestingly done but the reason behind all the killings is poorly & unconvincingly explained. All said & done ‘shadow’ is a film that re-establishies the fact that the gloss & glitter of cinema can allure any one & people can go lengths to furnish their dreams.

The movie gets 2 out of 5

One for the tremendous amount of confidence & courage of this man

& the other for the technicalities & production values

The movie losses heavily on story & story telling.

The Story

Arjun Sherawat (Naseer Khan) is a man who is unseen and is the criminal. No one has his identity. This case has been granted to Sanjana (Sonali Kulkarni) who is a police officer. She has been trying too hard for the past 6 month but all her efforts have been in vain.

Sheetal (Hrishita Bhatt) is a press reporter who loves her profession to the core. She is a very vibrant girl and full of life, she works with a known news channel and has each and every information about the case as she follows it very closely.

Rahul (Milind Soman) a press reporter from another news channel has also been following the case step by step. He constantly keeps nagging Sanjana about the case by questioning her from time to time.

Sheetal is in love with Rahul who is in love with his profession only. Murders are still being committed in short intervals. There are many incidents which also point out that may be Rahul is actually Arjun Sherawat and Sheetal is deeply involved with him.

How Arjun is nabbed & why is he killing people is the rest of the story.

Promotion

Has been promoted accordingly, the producers & promoters have kept no stone unturned & called heartthrobs like salman for audio launch. The outdoor/indoor/print publicity has been adequate kept on one line a blind man playing a normal man. All this has helped in generating curiosity.

Business Analysis

Curiosity value will somewhat cover the lack of face value. The gloss look & B C centre feel may attract some legs. The heavy cost & thin e quotient will stop shadow from singing any song at the B.O.
