What is it?
Indian Cinema is coming out of the shell by now, or rather has come out of the shell. post Black,Rang De Basnti, Indian cinegoers had seen filmmakers coming out with daringly different innovative ideas, to create magic on celluloid. Be it the Munnabhai sequal, Black Friday, Traffic Signal, Eklavya and now, one more film joins the league SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM.

With SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM, Suneel Darshan is back with a bang. This prolific film maker finally finds his lost magic. SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM is daringly different. Suneel Darshan has tried a subject which is quite different from the usual run of the mill stuff. Tata Bye Bye to love triangles, toilet humors & unprovoked laughter flicks & enter ambition, resentment, drama blend with peppy music. SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM is surely a film which entertains and enthralls the viewer right from the world go.

What it’s all about?
It delves into the lives of two dramatically different individuals, poles apart in their attitude, but they share one thing in common – their passion for music. AJ (Booby Deol) the most happening, loved/ singer composer in New York, who can go all out to maintain his position encounters Reggi (Upen Patel) a genius compser/ singer who aspires to be at the place where AJ is. In the lives of these two musicians enter two women, Ruhi (Kangana Ranaut) a singer, quite naïve in music & relationships. She admires AJ and looks upon him, but eventually gets

Turned on by Reggi, who successfully woos her. Sheena (Celina Jaitely) an ambitious, bold women who has don a lot for Reggi, but she holds a grudge on him as she was dumped by the aspiring singer. The two women become pawns in the ongoing battle between the two musicians where desperations, ambitions, betrayals show their ugly face. Who wins in the end …………….? What to look out for?
Subject definitely, its daringly different from the routine sort. Suneel Darshan does a commendable job, first of all in choosing an off beat subject and then tell s us the story remarkably well. He successfully maintains the slickness and the feel of the movie almost till the end. He is equally well supported by Rajesh Pandey, and also succeeds in bringing out spirited performance from the lead actors. Talk about performance, Bobby Deol as Aj is momentous, he plays the role to perfection, & really comes out from those mediocre romantic & action flicks, given the script he can do wonders. Upen Patel is thoroughly inspiring as Reggi, this actor shows promise and is the one to look out for. Celina Jaitely looks pretty & depicts the role of the ambitious bold women quite well. Whereas Kangana Ranaut delivers yet another fine performance.

Cinematography by Surinder and Sanjay F Gupta is a treat to the eyes. Production values are up to mark. Music by Himmesh Reshammiya is catchy and the title track is already a rage. Choreography by Bosco Caesar is remarkable

Among the other cast Vivek Vaswani is amusing with Asrani, Anupam Kher, Dilip Tahil, Govind Namdev & Seema Rahmani also provide able support.

What Not?
Not much, music is the sole of the film but barring the chartbuster title track other numbers sound resemblance to Himesh’s previous hits. Track of Anupam Kher is uncalled for and some editing was required.

At the box office SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM is a movie for audience who are young at heart, who wants to watch something different without any goof up. If you are bored with the over the years running saga of romance, drama, revenge then book your ticket at a theatre near you. It will definitely be a different experience. Business will be better in metropolitan and urban centers & the best in overseas.
