What is it?
Peter Parker is back. But this time our friendly neighborhood spider man goes hep, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, spidey does all the ramba’s and twist, before fighting the greatest battle of his life, the one within himself. SPIDER-MAN 3, third installment of Marvel Studios/ Laura Ziskin production directed by Sam Raimi, is certainly a ticket to queue in for.
Cause Alvin Sargent & Ivan Raimi, the writers make spider man go through all emotions, call it revenge, love, resentment, misunderstanding, arrogance, before rediscovering the compassion that makes him a hero.
The narrative ends with a philosophical note about choices, indicating another sequel in the making. But, care should be taken by now, as there is a fear that the brand spider may become monotonous in future as the best has already happened. The third installment is not as striking as its antecedents, the plot takes it own time in the end to wind up.
Nevertheless, the breathtaking action sequences & special effects, and of course the zingy spidey for a change makes SPIDER-MAN 3, worth a dekho.What it’s all about?
Peter Parker(Tobey Maguire) has finally found the balance he's longed for between his love for Mary Jane Watson (Kristen Dunst), and his responsibilities as Spider-Man. The city of New York and it's citizens are at last coming around and appreciating everything he has done.
However, everything Peter has worked for is about to unravel. Flint Marko(Thomas Haden Church), while fleeing prison, is caught in an accident that displaces molecules and is transformed into the Sandman, a new super villain who is able to change his body into any shape of sand he sees fit. When Peter learns of a connection between The Sandman and the murder of his Uncle Ben, he goes all out to settle scores.
But before Peter can do so he discovers a mysterious black substance has turned his suit black, and has brought forth a darker side of Parker and Spidey nobody has seen before. Peter begins to give into this new dark personality, starts to abandon the ones he loves the most and in turn his best friend Harry Osborn(James Franco) takes up his late father's mantle as The New Goblin.
Quickly Parker begins a new romance with his lab partner, the beautiful Gwen Stacy(Bryce Dallas Howard) but in doing so Peter sets off a rival Bugle photographer, Eddie Brock(Topher Grace) who is obsessed with Stacy. Little does Peter know the black substance has its sights set on Eddie else as well. Brock gets turned into Venom, an arch-foe that mirrors everything Spider-Man can do. Peter is now forced to become the strong-willed hero, if he hopes to defeat his greatest threat yet. What to look out for?
Apart from the breathtaking visual effects, especially the mind blowing formation of the Sandman, by Oscar winner supervisor Scott Stokdyk which is amazing, the real surprise packet is Spidey, the zingy spiderman is exciting and quite entertaining to watch.
What Not?
The length, by adding the romance angle, the narrative takes it’s own sweet time in the end, making the viewer tired and asking for rescue as they already know what will be the outcome. Nobody needs any special gyan for that.
Overall, a movie not only for action/special effects buffs but also for general audience as well.
Watch it, especially for SPIDEY.
