SUPERSTAR
Glitters – real Bollywood masala stuff.

What is it?
Rohit Jugraj can pat his back. After the disaster ‘James’, the director can now smile and see some light due to ‘Superstar’. Rohit has smartly narrated this rather predictable plot with some finesse. He definitely gives bollywood an actor in Kunal Khemu……. maybe a star later. The story of two humshakaals, one a struggling actor (current favorites amongst screenwriters) and a wannabe star, the son of a big time producer is packed with the right punches which overlays all the emotions expected in a bollywood masala flick. ‘Superstar’ is an appetite for the starving souls of typical bollywood family entertainer.

Though it has its flaws which cannot be ignored, the logic behind a big time producer putting crores of hooplahs on his son, who is a no actor and definitely not interested is hard to digest. The length (especially during the second half) & the songs are a hurdle and this mms thing (needless).

What is it all about?
Kunal (Kunal Khemu) dream’s of making it big in Bollywood one day.

Kunal wears the tag of a Bollywood struggler lightly, until, that is, life decides to play a prank on him. The entry of the rich, debonair, humshakaal Karan (Khemu), in Bollywood as well as his life, crushes all of Kunal's dreams.

One day the rich debonair dies in an accident & Kunal is left to play the role of Karan in real and reel life. Suddenly, the struggler is transformed into a superstar. Public adulation and unwavering media attention, he receives it all. But at a rather unaffordable price.

What to look out for?
Rohit Jugraj’s concept of life and its choices sounds a bit philosophical but he deserves the credit in taking this issue in an undertone manner and blending it with the required emotions required in a bollywood entertainer. The movie is entertaining right from the world go.

Baring the needless mms saga, Writer’s duo Rahul Singh & Sudip Sharma work is simple and precise.

Kunal Khemu may not be a star but ‘Superstar’ has successfully established him as an actor to reckon with.

Aushima Sawhney shows promise.

Reema Lagoo is brilliant.

What not?
The length and the music is a hurdle. Tulip is wasted. Aman verma irritates. Darshan Jariwala as the suited booted producer (is there any in bollywood?) fails to impress. Rohit could have taken us on a far more fantastic journey of diverse individuals and their chase of dreams but alas!

Conclusion: You can chase this star, if you believe.
