TASHAN
THE ISHTYLE WITH THE SAME AGE OLD PHARMOOLA
by Vishal Verma

Rating:

What is it?
Boss! This has gone for a toss, the philum has the Ishtyle, the look, & the attitude quotient in abundance but the philum falls short in its content. Maggie hot & sweet tomato chilly sauce for this paratha pizzaz ! Nah! Its not different Boss. It’s the same Mein Intaqam Longa (this time with the change in gender & a north Indian lingo.). Bingo, so what makes you seat through the 17 reels.

Let me tell yous, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor with postcards of Ladakh, Rajasthan & Greece (breathtakingly captured by Ayananka Bose) with a story that makes you weep for the much talented writer turned director Vijay Krishna Acharya ( Pyar Ke Side Effects, Dhoom series, Guru) who also pens the script & sadly looses his pen in this fujicolour shot film which has the story of those eastmancolours.
Direction ke side effects, by god its no dhoom but glum in the end guruji.

Nevertheless, Acharya’s 60’s 70’s ka achaar is well crafted and is in sync with the ‘in’ look thanks to Aki Narula ( Kareena is a dynamite in the much talked about bikni scene), it is also crisply edited though only in the first half by Rameshwar S Bhagat & has does has some foot tapping numbers byVishal & Shekhar like ‘Dil hara’ & ‘dance mare’ well crooned by Sukhwinder Singh &  brilliantly choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant. With some fabulous stunts choreographed by Peter Hain on Akshay.

Anyway the chemistry between Saif & Kareena is ‘thanda’.

What is it all about?
The story ish, Pooja ( Kareena Kapoor –  looks ravishing and delivers a brilliant performance) father gets killed by Bhaiyaji ( Anil Kapoor- bhaisaab try some other roles you are much capable & pls stop making fun of yourself by doing this). She uses jimmy (Saif Ali Khan – restrained) to steal the 25 cr hoopla of bhaiya ji and flees.

Bhaiyaji appoints bachchan pande ( Akshay Kumar – entertaining) - a thug from UP to get hold of  the hoopla and the two.

Later he discovers that pooja is his bachpan ka pyar & you don’t have to be an Einstein or a Newton to guess what will be the climax.

What to look out for?
The ishtyle, the look, Kareena Kapoor & the reliable Akshay Kumar (he provides the maximum entertaining moments which may go well with the masses especially in the Hindi speaking belt). The music by Vishal Shekhar with the bhojpuri lingo.

Stupendous production values & exceptional camerawork by Ayananka Bose.

What not?
No story for this istylish glory boss. Anil Kapoor irritates but may be liked by some. The movie stretches like an elastic and drags & drags & drags in the later half.

Recommended: Strictly for Akshay Kumar fans who doesn,t mind any story to watch the actor in the kanpuri glory this time with the hot, bubbly and ravishing Kareena.
