The Chairman, Mr. Pahlaj Nihalani, while addressing the 11th Annual General Meeting pointed out that with the
guidance of all members and Governing Council members he as President and Shri Anil Nagrath as Director General of AMPTPP were doing their best to attend the day to day activities of the Association to protect the interest of all members, irrespective of the fact whether they are in town and/or in abroad and solved several problems but various other important problems are still to be discussed and settled.
For example, he had cited that various Producers were not getting their legitimate dues from several Channels / TV etc and suitable action will be taken to protect the interest of Producers. Another important issue was Copyright holders, Association had seized all these important issues and necessary action will be taken after forming separate wing within the Association by collecting / giving various information to members to protect the same through Internet, Circular, Magazine, etc. He had also pointed out that the AMPTPP is like a private company and Mr. Anil Nagrath and himself are available throughout the day and night to solve the members problems immediately without keeping anything pending by way of attending these issues even when they are not in town. That is the credit of this Association.
He had also stated that earlier there was a talk in Film Industry that this is a tutiphuti Association which has now reached a top position of Active Producers of Mumbai, having more than 4,300 members, which fact is well known to all now and which would not have been possible without the co-operation of all members. He then pointed out that this Association is treating all members as Producers and not treating as Big Budget Producer and/or Small Budget Producers and all problems were being solved to the satisfaction of all Producers whether they are making Motion Pictures, Telefilms, Serials, etc. He added that he was going to form various Sub Committees for solving different issues keeping an experienced person in that area as Head of that Committee.
Mr. Satish Kulkarni, informed the members that he has come to the conclusion that compared to the other Associations of Producers in Mumbai, only this Association can solve various problems and deliver the goods in time whenever anybody wants and keeping this in view he wants to put his problems before this Association for taking suitable action. He has stated that though the Producers of Marathi Films were getting subsidy, the Income Tax Authorities are imposing a considerable amount as Tax, which is totally unwarranted and uncalled for and despite repeated requests the Government has not taken any step to instruct the CBDT to desist from levying tax on this subsidy. He has further pointed out that he is making this appeal not for the benefit of only Marathi films but this will definitely help all other Regional films of other States also. The Chairman first thanked him for the confidence reposed in this Association and assured to do his best to solve this Problem in the interest of all Regional Film Producers.
Thereupon, Mr. Naresh Muhnot, with the permission of the Chair informed the meeting that he was sorry to state that very few members of the Governing Council were present at this meeting and he suggested that members who can attend the meetings of the Association regularly and devote their services be appointed as members of the Governing Council and also further requested to give seats for small budget Producers also so that their problems can also be presented before the Governing Council for taking suitable action.
In reply to this, the Chairman clarified that due to various reasons some members of the Governing Council could not attend and those who are able to attend will definitely attend citing an example of Shri Yash Johar, who returned from abroad only to attend today’s meeting.
He also pointed out that the main objective of the Association is to solve all types of problems of Producers in whatever way possible and guide them in a proper way, without keeping anything pending and hence whether the responsible members of the Association were always present in person in the office was immaterial because the work has to be done according to the merit of the case and is always being done in this manner and also informed that the AMPTPP was in fact a mobile office where he and Director General, Mr. Anil Nagrath, were available all the time on telephone whether they are in town or anywhere else and the attendance in our meeting is less because all the problems of the members are solved without their being forced to attend meetings to redress their grievance.
He then appealed to all members to give their valuable suggestions to improve the image of the Association.
With a vote of thanks to the Chair, the meeting terminated.
