EDITORIAL
First thing that we do is not necessarily our best, which is true for this issue too. But the idea here is not to fall into any measurable parameters. The idea is to tread the untreaded, weed out the barriers, cut across lines, infuse a global mindset and abreast the readers with the latest in technology, movie markets and marketing, Official Stands and New & upcoming laws/notifications directly affecting the Film / TV fraternity & so much more. Around this time Singapore is scheduled to release series of 4 telefilms. The only thing unusual is that this series is the first of its kind to be shot on High Definition Digital Video. Not just DV but HD is the future. Theatres for the release of digital films are already on their way even in India. The Technology is running ahead. Also running ahead is the need to develop new content, ideas and find fresh locations for shooting. In this issue, we bring you Singapore as a filming destination. Here we will try to give you not only details of the locales but also of Visa formalities, Authorities to contact and details of shooting permissions etc.- a kind of complete shooting guide. While we live with a popular belief that the Content is King and while a whole lot of people make their fortune through this Content the Content Producer himself is always on the mercy of others! This is a serious issue and the Foundation for Promotion of Film Arts and Crafts wishes to address it by holding it’s first India International Film Convention on the 16th and 17th of August 2003 at Hotel InterContinental The Grand, Mumbai. The convention is not only supported by the prime Film Bodies in India but also has participation from some of the best names in the International Film market. This should be a great event bringing International film Companies, Agents, Distributors etc. face to face with their Indian counterparts over seminars, conferences and dinners. The exhibition stalls are being booked by the technical suppliers, distribution agents, companies and so on. The Event is bound to serve as a great opportunity for Indian and International film fraternity. In this issue we are carrying detailed information on the Event for the benefit of our readers. While we at the Explorer need your good wishes we also need feed back. Please do write back.
