Awards
Festival Description - Honoring the spirit of Paul Robeson, activist,
scholar, performer and athlete, the Paul Robeson Awards were established
by the Newark Black Film Festival in 1985, as a biennial competition for
aspiring filmmakers. Winners will be honored in a ceremony at the closing
festivities of the 30th Newark Black Film Festival held at The Newark
Museum. Cash awards and trophies will be presented in each category: Long
Narrative, Short Narrative, Documentary and Experimental.

Festival Description - The Sarah Lawrence College Experimental Film and
Video Festival is searching for films and videos created out of intense
personal commitment, and which express the aesthetic, philosophical or
political view of the filmmaker without recourse to traditional narrative
conventions. These criteria also included adventurous narrative and non-narrative
works, as well as experimentally minded non-fiction films. All submissions
must be on VHS or DV. However, the festival encourages films created on
the formats of 35mm, 16mm, and Super8 to be publicly screened in their
original mediums if possible.
