Times are changing and the need of the hour is for us is to change accordingly. The recent past has shown clearly and categorically that everything connected with the entertainment industry has undergone tremendous change and the entire industry is at the moment looking at a scenario which is totally alien and difficult to understand because whatever we have understood to be the gospel truth till now has suddenly proved to be totally wrong and therefore we are not in a position to decide how and where we should go. The formula and the star system has totally collapsed and they have become irrelevant in today date and time because most of the big stars cast formula films have been flops whereas film with newcomers and new ideas have done wonderful business and therefore today a Film maker need not be bound by the age old formula and star system and can today go ahead and

make his film with conviction targeted at specific niche audience with the assurance that it will get quality playing time at the various Multiplexes which are being opened all over the country and which will have brought the elite audience back to the Cinema Halls. However in this scenario the role of the distributors has become very dubious as most of the producers have to release their own films themselves as distributors are not offering an adequate price and therefore the Producer either releases the film at a loss or releases the film on his own account after paying the costs of the Prints and Publicity which makes one wonder why Producers don’t take cost of the Prints and Publicity as part of the budget before starting the film so that when the film is complete they don’t have to sit and wait to find some distributor release their film and instead they can take out the Prints and Publicity of their films and go to various international distribution companies available and release their film and recover the cost because no matter what is the quality of the film it has a market and the right distributor can recover money even for the worst film and therefore if a film is good and it is marketed properly there is no reason why it should not do enough business and film makers can now make films with conviction because somewhere there is an audience for every kind of film.
