By Vishal Verma

Bhav Deep, Andheri Mumbai, March 1 2008: Clad in a Sherwani and donning the Hyderabadi topi with a pleasant smile on his face, veteran actor-dancer – producer-director & above all a humanitarian and also a social activist Chandrashekhar had a reason to celebrate and cheer.

The veteran celebrated his 72nd ! yes 72nd  wedding anniversary at his residence along with wife, his family, & close friends.

Instead of celebrating it glamorously, Chandrashekhar took this opportunity to make a kind & caring gesture. The couple invited the staff members of Cinta, Federation of Western India Cine Employees association,& Film Writers Association to their residence and gifted RS.2001/- each to their 15 school going daughters as their  wedding gift in advance.

Chandrashekhar made a request that the amount should be kept in long term deposits and to be given at the time of the girls marriage along with the interest as an ‘Ashirwad’ from Chandrashekhar & wife Pushpa Devi.

It was an emotionally charged atmosphere when Chandrashekhar & Pushpa Devi presented Chandla in advance to the daughters of respected staff members.

‘It is small gesture from my side as I know with the advancing age me or my wife will not be present when these daughters will get marry. So I am showering my blessings this way” said the emotional Chandrashekhar.

Master comedian Jonny Lever also joined in later to give his best wishes and appreciated the veterans kind and concerning gesture.

Well, that’s what is expecpected from Chandrashekhar, who is always ready to lend his support for the industry and its people.

The veteran who is now in his mid eighties, started his career in the early 40’s as an extra and later on boogie woogied & made the 60’s go zingy with his production ‘Cha Cha Cha’.
Chandrashekhar gave the vamp queen Helen her first break as a heroine in his ‘Cha Cha Cha’, the movie was very much appreciated.
Apart from acting and making films, Chandrashekhar has been very much active in participating and voicing his opinion for the cause of the industry and has served many trade and non-trade bodies of the industry in respectable positions as President, & Chairman.

Chandrashekhar and his family of four generations took care of all the invitees and made the occasion a memorable one.
