MEN & WOMEN OF THE YEAR

It is time to declare Man and woman of the year. But in bollywood, there are many deserving the title, so I am going to talk about Men & Women of the year.

‘GURU’ turned put to be a hit. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai also became a hit with each other during the making of ‘GURU’. It is difficult to say who was the guru and who was the chela or cheli on the subject of romance. The guess is that they alternated the roles of chela and cheli.

Aishwarya-Abhishek marriage turned out to be ‘Wedding of the Year’. Aishwarya is ‘Bride of the Year’ and Abhishek is ‘Bridegroom of the Year’. It is something more delightful than being ‘Man or Woman of the Year’.

By the same reckoning, Jaya Bachchan is ‘Mother and also Mother –in-Law of the Year’. Amitabh Bachchan could have been called ‘Father and Father-in-Law of the Year’. But the success of CHEENI KUM radically changed the scenario. Amitabh’s delightful romance with Tabu makes him ‘Romeo of the Year’.

Sorry Ranbir Kapoor! You could have been rightfully called ‘Romeo of the Year’ on the strength of your performance in SAAWARIYA. But sadly or happily, you lost to Amitabh. Hold your heart!. There appears to be no challenge to your title of ‘Discovery of the Year’ in the male category. Needless to say, thanks to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ranbir, you are just a beginner, there are decades and decades before you to be ‘Romeo of the Year’.

In the female category, there is competition between Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Sonam is Sanjay’s discovery. Deepika is the discovery of Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan, M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. It is the ratio of one to four. You may guess the winner.

Shah Rukh qualifies to be ‘Star of the Year’ with his performances in CHAK DE INDIA! And OM SHANTI OM. But Shah Rukh’s six packs have been more in the news than his work. I’m tempted to call him ‘Muscleman of the Year’.

Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan are the other two famous muscleman of the industry. Sanjay has been so much in and out of the jail and he may be called ‘Qaidi of the Year’.

Salman Khan has been very helpful in Govida’s come back and their PARTNER also clicked. Salman may be called ‘Partner of the Year’.

Akshay Kumar is on top of the world with four hits in a row NAMESTY LONDON, HEY BABY, BHOOL BHULAIYA and WELCOME. He plays a comic character in all the films. Akshay is ‘Comedian of the Year’.
In the coming year, he should play the lead role in a film with the title “ Mera Naam Joker”. Needless to say, the story has to be different from Raj Kapoor’s classic.

It was after a long gap that Kareena Kapoor scored a hit with JAB WE MET. But she has been more in the news for her break up with Shahid Kpoor and link with Saif Ali Khan. Kareena may be called ‘ Laila of the Year’. She is a 21st century Laila. With Kareena as Laila, Saif automatically gets the title ‘Majnu of the Year’.

Bipasha Basu and John Abraham have been as much talked about pair as Kareena and Shahid. Bipasha is top ranking sexy women and John is also a high ranking sexy man. They make ‘Sexy Pair of the Year’.

Madhuri Dixit’s comeback vehicle AAJA NACHLE proved to be a short runner. Flopping of the film does not qualify Madhuri from being called ‘Dancer of the Year’. but Madhuri is a dancer of all time. ‘Dancer of the Year’ title is too small for her.

Rakhi Sawant tried very hard to win the ‘Nach Baliye’ contest and claim to be the ‘Dancer of the Year’. But she could not succeed. However she always kept herself in the news and Rakhi may be called ‘Media Girl of the Year’.

Sushmita Sen is diligently preparing for the title role in her own project on the life of Jhansi Ki Rani. She is taking horse riding lessons.  Sushmita is the ‘Rider of the Year’.

Farah Khan looked the choice for the title of ‘Director of the Year’ with her work on OM SHANTI OM. Now Aamir Khan scores over her with his triumph in TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. Aamir is the ‘Director of the Year’ and also ‘Producer of the Year’.
