Interview

“I have a good rapport with Ramu,” says Fardeen Khan

The actor is biting his nails for his forthcoming fifth film with Ramu ‘Darling’ which is scheduled to hit the theatres this Friday. IMP asks the actor about working with Ramu and his latest film ‘Darling’.

Q1. It seems you are Ram Gopal Verma’s favorite actor. That’s why you appear in his films time and again?
A. It is true. I had done my career’s second film ‘Jungle’ with Ram Gopal Verma. After that, ‘Pyar Tuna Kya Kiya,’ ‘Bhoot’, and ‘Darling’ is my fifth film with him. I have a good rapport with Ram Gopal Verma. When I had first worked with Ramu in ‘Jungle,’ that was my second film and ‘Darling’ is the 21st film of my career.

In between, my experiences had developed a lot. Whatever I have learnt, I have learnt while working; now we consult each other more for new characters, storyline, and scenes.

Q2.Your last two films with Ram Gopal Verma, did not do well at the box-office still you didn’t hesitate to work with him for ‘Darling’.
A. Progress and retreat are a part of life. While signing a new film, I never pay attention to the director’s last box office performance. Whenever a new film offer comes, I always put a notice to the storyline, script, and my character in the film. I have always enjoyed working with Ramu. That’s why a good rapport has been made with him. And this shouldn’t be forgotten that Ramu had only given me an opportunity to work in new films with different roles every time. Audiences have also liked me in different characters.

Q3. What would you say for the film ‘Darling’ and your character?
A. It is a different story. It is a film that I cannot bind in any genre. This film makes you horrified, makes you cry, makes you laugh, and entertains you altogether. It’s a very interesting film. It’s a courageous film. In this film, my character, Aditya has a very wide range of emotion; it’s a very intense character. It has many different shades.

Q4. The film ‘Darling’s catch line is ‘A killing lover’ and ‘Darling’- why these two
nuances?

A. This you will come to know after watching the film.

Q5. While looking from above, the story for the film ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’ and ‘Darling’ appears to be almost the same.
A. But when you will watch the film, you will not see any similarity between the two films. In the film, ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’, I was a model photographer. However, in the film ‘Darling’ I am an Executive Manger who loves his secretary. Because of this, the story takes a different turn.

Q6. So, to reveal your romantic image, Ram Gopal Verma has tied you with ‘Darling’?
A. May be yes, Though Ramu feels that I have a very charming personality and I also want myself to be a charming personality forever.

Q7. Last time Sajid Khan had said that till date no actor has utilized their inner talents accurately?
A. I cannot say anything in this matter. This might be Sajid Khan’s thinking. I have done 21-22 films and have also proved my talent in the films. I have improvised my talent. Let me tell you that I have never ceased myself or my talent in any of my films. I always work with full pace in every film.

Q8. You think you have got what you wanted?
A. Being no.1 or no.2 doesn’t matter for me. I never indulge myself in the race of numbers. As I have already said that I work with those people whom I like to. My vision has always been clear with work. That’s why I never get into what I got and I didn’t.

Q9. Are you happy with the films which you have done so far or you feel murky for some of them?
A. I am happy with the films which I have done so far. In some of the films, I have played diverse characteristic roles. And that’s not enough; I have enjoyed each film that I have been doing. Every film has given me new energy.

Q10. You have performed both action and comic roles. In which of them do you enjoy the most?
A. I haven’t done action much. The film ‘Jungle’ off course had action; otherwise I have done comic and romantic roles mostly. I get the enjoyment by performing comic and romantic roles.

Q11. Your father was supposed to do the remake of the film ‘Qurbani’?
A. Work is going on. As of now the script is not ready. Puneet Sera and my father ‘Feroz Khan’ are writing it together. Let me tell you one thing, it is a remake of the old film ‘Qurbani,’ but upgrading the basic fact, the script is been written by keeping in mind the present environment.

Q12. What next?
A. After ‘Darling’ Dulha Mil Gaya’ and ‘Jai Veeru’ will be released. In the film ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ I have played a character of crorepati playboy. In this, apart from a new female actor ‘Ishita,’ Shah Rukh Khan is also there. However, in ‘Jai Veeru’ I am performing as police inspector named Jai and Kunal Khemu is Veeru.

Q13. Your passions after acting?
A. I love traveling. Apart from that car racing is also a passion.
