In a brief chat with Indianmotionpictures.com, Nigaar speaks about her career and her role in Kasam Se.
IMP. How different is your role in Kasam Se?
N.K. I have done many negative roles in the past but nothing has been so influential and controlling. In addition, they have made my look very glamorous and not very loud. Barnali, the character I play is a very controlled woman. She expresses more through facial expressions instead of screaming and abusing. SHE is a vicious woman who has returned after 15 years, only to destroy Jay Walia and his family. She comes up with all kinds of schemes and plots at every point of life to compete and win over anybody related with the Walia family. It's a mystery why she wants to wipe out the family except Jai and his sister Jigyasa. What I like about this character is it's the most powerful role I'm doing after Lipstick.
IMP. How did this role landed up to you?
N.K. I was done and over with India Calling on Star One, planning to head towards London for a much needed break but in the meanwhile, Mukti from the creative department of Balaji called up & offered this role.
Initially, I was reluctant to do the role cause I wanted a break and secondly this was the role of an older woman who has a son. But Balaji got the confidence in me that it would be a sexy, glamorous mother and I could be as I am on the show though I would be playing the role of an old woman with a big son. So, basically Balaji convinced me into doing it. And I'm happy about it.
IMP. So this is your first show with Balaji?
N.K. Yes, this is my first full-fledged show with Balaji. I have done shows for them before but just cameos or some dance sequences in shows like KKusum, KKavyanjali, Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai etc., but this is the first time as a lead.
IMP. So how is it working with Balaji and your co- stars?
N.K. I was hearing different stories about Balaji when I joined, but personally, I find it all to be something peripheral in nature, But now I know how it is from the inside. The production team is great; my co- stars are great fun to work with. Ram (Jay Walia) is a lot of fun, Prachi (Bani) is also a very sweet kid .We all chat and just have a good time on the sets.
IMP. Host of shows after Lipistick, which one did you enjoyed the most?
N.K. Yes, Zee launched me on television through Lipstick. I worked with them for two years. And then, came a host of shows like Jeet on Star Plus, Hum do Hain Na and Ayushmaan on Sony, Saathiya on Sahara, India Calling on Star One was one of my most favorable ones. I also enjoyed working for Prathima on Sahara.
IMP. Small screen actor, what else?
N.K. I'm just doing this play with Paritosh Painter called "see no evil, hear no evil, and say no evil". I have quit ramp modeling because I get no time at all for that now.
IMP: Your other passions after acting?
N.K. I enjoy driving. So whenever I have time, I get into my car, switch on the music and go for a drive, I like reading a lot and just spend time with my family and of course my cat, Furry.
