I do not know whether I will be a good husband or not but am damn sure that I will definitely be the best daddy. - Salman Khan
Sitting relaxed at Mehboob studios and chilling with rounds of diet coke and his Marlboro light sticks, Bollywood macho hunk and the most ‘wanted’ man for any women of this world shares with Vishal Verma on qualities that makes a ‘Veer’ of yourself, who is a real ‘Veer’ and admits that he doesn’t want to live like a star……..
Excerpts
Q: 20 years to act in the film on your own story?
A: Actually I wrote the story before I became an actor. In fact, I wanted to become a director, not an actor. When I wrote the story it was quiet long. For some or the other reason making a film on it was not possible. Now I thought this is the right time. I narrated to Mr. Vijay Galani and he liked it. I edited the story accordingly so that it fits in frame to make the film.
Q: ‘Veer’ is your baby, your story. What research process did you went through for penning this period film?
A: Lots of. When you are making a period film, you have to do research. As you know Veer a period film. It is a love story of Pindari soldier. It is the story of father and son who honor his words. Period shown in the film is year 1900. I wrote this period story as I feel the people of that era are more correct. We referred to books and discussed a lot. We have not followed regular format of period film.
Q: A story of father and son, will you share something interesting between you and your father?
A: I think father and son should be best friends. The relationship should have respect and chemistry. I will tell you one incidence. I failed in mid-term exams when I was in 7th or may be 8th standard. Dad just told,’ Do better next time. Now just enjoy the vacation.’ Without shouting he told in a cool way and I understood exactly in that one sentence. That is the relation and chemistry. I love and respect him a lot. That is why I have dedicated blog of Veer to him.
Earlier you have watched this relation with chemistry in my film ‘Baaghi’.
Q: Having such an open-mindedness in your views on father and son, don,t you wish its high time you should also be a father by now?
A: (Laughs) Oh sure!. That time will also come. I do not know whether I will be good husband or not but am damn sure that I will definitely be the best daddy.
(A unit member fills the half empty glass of coke as the superstar lights his another cigarette)
Q: What are the qualities that bring a ‘Veer’ in you? Who is your hero, your
‘Veer’?
A: Anyone who is not scared of anything, a person who always speaks the truth and thinks differently is a ‘Veer’. My ‘Veer’ is my dad. You don’t find such qualities in an average Indian. For example, when we see ten people beating a single person, we keep quiet. But when the same thing happens to us we react and expect help from others. It’s a wrong attitude. Such mentality is bad for our country. But things are changing as literacy is increasing; we need more polished politicians considering India is a difficult country to rule.
Q: Are there any such polished politicians around who you fill can make the difference?
A: The second and third generations of politicians are really doing good. Like Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Shatrughna Sinha, Sachin Pilot, Milind Deora, Supriya Sule, Praful Patel, Jyotiraditya Scindia etc.
Q: You are keenly following politicians, any plan to join politics in near future?
A: No way. I am happy with ‘Being Human’ my charitable organization.
Q: What are the qualities of a good fighter?
A: The biggest quality of a fighter is to be able to back off, say no to a fight.
Q: Contradictory…..?
A: Yeah. But that’s the biggest quality of a fighter, who being capable of knocking the opponent down chooses not to fight. It needs strength to do that.
Q: What will you choose, if you find yourself at the crossroads of duty and love?
A: You could find love at many situations in life but your duty is more important. Love can wait.
Q: For the look in ‘Veer’ what extra precautions and exercise regime you had followed?
A: Stopped lifting weights completely and did lot of dand baithaks and heavy pushups.
Q: Name 3 best Bollywood period action dramas till date
A: 1) Mughal – E- Azam
2) Dharam Veer
3) The third is coming this Friday
(Smiles and crushes the butt of his cigarette)
Q: What next?
A: I am doing ‘Dabang’ with Sonakshi Sinha. As you can see I have lost weight for that movie.
Q: What makes you the controversies favorite child?
A: I don,t make them you make it. I enjoy sitting here as I enjoy sitting in a jail. I am a normal man and I want to live the life of a common man I wish to travel by train or rickshaw, want to go everywhere. I want to live normal life, not a star’s life.
Q: You have also joined the blog revolution like other bollywood celebrities, but the language you use is very innocent?
A: as you know I have dedicated blog of Veer to my father and I don,t want to educate people via my blog. I don,t except a noble prize winner to read my blogs and the language I write is the language I speak and interact. I write what I think and what I Am.
