Sang and played sitar in album “Sawariya” – Hidayat Hussain

Legend Ustad Vilayat Khan Son Hidayat Hussain new album “Sawariya” is released. The Album of Hidayat Hussain son of Ustad Vilayat Khan is truly melodious and harmonious. In this album “Sawariya” Hidayat have played the sitar, sang and written the songs moreover arranged the music. The album would be definitely adored by classical music lover but with that it will be also liked by non-classical music listeners.

Recently in Delhi had a talk with Hidayat Hussain about his album, He said, “Saregama has released this album in which there are 8 tracks. The first track is Albela Sajan, after this Jiya, Naznin followed by title track Sawariya, next is Lagi Re, Sukoon, Raat kati nahi, Taana Naa maro and last Naznin (unplugged). The songs are written by me and Rajeev Tiwari, there are some classic songs too. I have composed music, played sitar and moreover I have sung the songs”.

Sawariya is Hidayat second album, features a blend of various contemporary styles of music deeply rooted in Indian classical music. ‘After the global success of his debut album Ziver - which was rated 1 on the Billboard and MTV charts - his new album scales fresh heights. Will this album smash the hit chart? Hidayat said, “Yeah, why not this album is very alluring to the listeners whether they like classical music or not.”

Which is your favorite song in this album? Hidayat said, “Evenly I like each song of album as I wrote the songs, I sang and composed music but then also Title song “Sawariya” is very close to me and one of my favorite, beside this I also like Raat kati nahi, Taana Naa maro and sukoon”.

At 4 year of age father Ustad Vilayat Khan taught him Indian classical vocals, a variety of other forms of classical music. Hidayat voice is very melodious and there is a magic in his finger when he plays sitar. When asked hidayat that you play sitar and with that you sing so from whom you learnt? He said, “Besides playing Sitar I also learned singing from my father as I began my formal training at the age of 4 all the way to the age 14”.

Hidayat has performed in India as well International and with this have also done Mira Nair's movie 'Kama Sutra' and other films. Beside this he also gave background track for the Discovery Channel program on tigers titled "Tracking a Legend".

Hidayat has performed all over the world. This includes major performances in Europe, Japan, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, Canada, and Singapore and also in Italy. When asked you have performed in many countries so which shows audience you liked? Hidayat said, “Every where’s audience were great, each one listen carefully and enjoy the show, I like to be there performing.”.

Hidayat has achieved award for his work by international press Rolling Stone magazine described him in 2001 as ‘The young master’. Whereas The Daily Star calls ‘Hidayat can rock”. With this he has been praised by Chicago Tribune, The London Times, and The Telegraph.
